Miyama Pottery Village and Nabeshima Restaurant

We had another great excursion today, the Miyama pottery village. There we learned the history of Japanese pottery and then got to make our own pottery piece(s). Ikueikan will have them shipped to us once they are completed in about four weeks. It was so much fun. The students were so creative in their artwork. I can't wait to see the outcome.

After leaving the pottery village we went to Nabeshima restaurant. I would compare this place to Kobe steakhouse, where you can cook the meat in front of you, the only difference is you cook your own meat. We all had beef. We also were served rice, soup, and a trip to the salad bar, which had salad and fruit. Watching the students cook their food was so much fun. Cooking with chopsticks is difficult.

The biggest laugh our table had was watching Mrs. McCrary ask our driver, who also is a sensei (PE and soccer) at Ikueikan, how to cook the meat. She kept using the word "daaa" as she was mimicking what to do. He got tickled at her and replied back with the word, "daaa." We laughed and laughed.

The sauce for the meat was so good. You will have to ask the others about the rest of the food because I am a "steak and rice girl" only. Many of the students cooked their pineapple on the grill. I have heard many of them say how much better the fruit tastes in Japan than America.

I think all of the students really enjoyed today's excursion.
